Artist Spotlight: Itchy Robot

Itchy Robot (born Patrick Hughes in Wexford, Ireland) is a dubstep DJ and producer based in Sussex. Founding member and lead producer of Afterdark Productions, Itchy’s legendary sound has taken the Dubstep scene by storm over the last five years. Infamous for his legendry dancefloor anthem ‘Raw’ and Chemical Records’ all-time third best seller ‘Big Up And Burn Her’, he continues to churn out hit after hit at a frightening speed.

Now signed to a massive 20 record labels (including Afterdark Dubs, 10 Bag, 3.5, Boka Juniors, XS Records, Scrubadub and Badman Press) he also manages to maintain a hectic gigging schedule, having just arrived back from a sell-out tour of California. His renowned big-impact jump-up style has torn up packed dancefloors all over the world, including Bass Bash in Finland, Innovation in the Dam, Bombadum in LA and the UK’s own SuperDrubpressure and Mungos Hifi to name but a few.

Itchy also enjoys huge success hosting Afterdark’s weekly Sub FM radio show on Tuesdays from 6-8pm. Going from strength to strength, the show recently smashed the station’s Listener and Chat Room records and is currently nominated for ‘Best Radio Show’at the 2010 Dubstep Awards.

With gigs continuing to pile in, new material with the mighty DZ in the pipeline and his own new digital label on the horizon, 2010 definitely looks set to become the year of the Robot!
